MEET DURANT
A life-long Durhamite committed to equity
I grew up in Durham, attending Forest View Elementary and Durham School of the Arts. I know firsthand that while teachers and staff work tirelessly to provide students with opportunities and a sense of belonging, too many young people are left behind before they reach adulthood. Equitable growth cannot occur when we govern for those in positions of privilege and power, and I firmly believe that our foremost priority is making sure that every single resident is in a position to thrive, not just scrape by.
The federal government is being looted by the kakistocracy. Grants once used to help our most underserved neighbors are drying up. Durham must be proactive in filling these funding gaps. Our current Council has largely followed the status quo, but these extreme times call for bold ideas if we are to weather this storm. My mission as a public servant is to ensure economic security and social stability for ALL of Durham by proposing bold, long-term solutions that reach residents of all means. We can work together to adjust the trajectory of growth and development to one of safety and equity for all Durhamites.
